This film stems from my curiosity about the way older generations o en teach us to “endure, smile, and stay happy” — even in the face of discomfort or pain. I wanted to explore what happens when that idea is taken to an extreme. The story began as a darkly humorous thought: to what extent should we let things pass in the name of peace or positivity? From there, the concept evolved into the image of a group of old women bound by a cult-like devotion to laughter — a symbol of ignorance disguised as happiness. Through this absurd yet unse ling lens, the film reflects how the pressure to stay “fine” can quietly consume us.
